There have been many unusual uses for cabs over the years, from hosting the popular game show Cash Cab to carrying troops during the First World War. Many people think that taking a black cab is just a way of getting from one place to another, they would be wrong. Although this is the primary function of the cabs, they can be used for many more things.

As September rolls by there are many reasons why taking a cab will make your life easier. As graduates leave university and head to London to look for employment they will inevitably get lost in the bowels of the city. Getting to interviews can be stressful as it is and there is no need to make it even more traumatic. By getting a cab you can remove some of the stress. You can arrive at your interview on time feeling relaxed.

Catching a cab might also be a good idea if you are responding to a London classified ad, as the cab driver can wait for you and make sure that you are safe. We already operate a “Meet and Greet” service for anyone who needs a little extra TLC when travelling. So if your child or elderly relative is arriving at the airport, and you can go to meet them, our friendly drivers will be on hand to transport them safely.

We currently offer a Treasure Hunt service, which we think is a really fun way to spend the day. Why not treat your family to an Apprentice style hunt through the capital. It really is a lot of fun. There are many ways that you can enjoy black cabs, they really are more useful than you think.

Hi Mike, I would like to pass on the comments I have received for a service we booked with you on 7th July 2010. You provided a service that enabled our Health & Safety Consultant to attend a pre-arranged training session. This involved collecting said person from their home, taking them to Paddington Station, making sure they got on the train, and then repeating the service in the evening when the consultant returned. Most people would say that this service wasn’t remarkable except the consultant had a nasty accident the week before and is confined to a wheelchair at present. Your driver Paul who was assigned for this service was extremely helpful, nothing was too much bother. He assisted our consultant through what is a daunting experience when you are in a wheelchair, to Paddington Station and accompanied them until they were on the train. Then in the evening the same process was repeated. Our consultant has said in their words “He was Excellent”. My husband Graham as Senior Director of Music Household Division performs on many State Ceremonial Occasions in front of the Monarch where it is imperative that he is on time. The “Meet and Greet – Safe Conduct” Black Taxi service has literally changed my life. As a busy working Mum I was having huge difficulties collecting my daughter from swim-training in the evenings whilst trying to get the baby ready for bed. It was impossible to be in two places at the same time. Now Chris picks my daughter up after swimming and brings her home for me. He is always on time, I have no worries whatsoever about my daughter’s safety, and she loves it because he has a television in the cab which we don’t have in the car! Brilliant!!!! How user-friendly is London for those with temporary or permanent disabilities and injuries?

Bus Travel

London TravelWatch is the official watchdog organisation representing the interests of transport users in and around the capital. They are “The voice of London’s transport users”.

Recently, London Travel Watch surveyed bus stops in the London in terms of their disabled-friendliness. Kingston was been praised by London Travel Watch for having the most disabled-friendly bus stops in the capital. 85 per cent of bus stops in Kingston are accessible to disabled passengers, as revealed by London Travel Watch’s audit of 17,000 London bus stops.

Disabled-friendly bus stops ensure buses can get directly to the kerb to allow easy boarding and alighting, which means bus doors are not obstructed by objects on the pavement, and that parking restrictions are observed around the stops. London Travel Watch says they will continue to press Transport for London and councils to do anything necessary to ensure bus stops are accessible for all.

Our “Special Needs Service” drivers are ready and willing to give you any extra assistance that you need, such as helping you down in the lift or escorting you to the train platform.

Licensed London taxis are specially designed to accept special needs customers in wheelchairs. Taxis have wheelchair ramps and safety belts to secure the wheelchair during the journey.

We charge no extra fees for our “Meet & Greet – Safe Conduct” and “Special Needs” services. [All journeys are subject to our Terms and Conditions.]

Please note: electric wheelchairs are slightly wider than manual wheelchairs and require a taxi with wider doors. We have several taxis on our fleet with these wider door specifications, so just remember to mention it when you make your booking.

When you book your loved one to travel by themselves, we know that you want to make sure that they are safe and have an enjoyable trip. We offer a specialty “Meet & Greet – Safe Conduct” service for just that reason.

Our specialty “Meet & Greet – Safe Conduct” service ensures the safety of your loved one who needs to travel by taxi. This service is perfect for anyone who needs a little extra TLC when traveling:

Children traveling alone (unaccompanied minor)
Teenagers
Young adults, such as University students
Elderly
Disabled
Anyone unfamiliar with London
Anyone traveling for the first time

How It Works

When you book the taxi, we will provide you with the driver’s name, mobile (cell) phone number, and the taxi’s vehicle registration number (license plate number). We will also give the driver your loved one’s mobile phone number, so that they can communicate and easily find each other. (If your loved one is not carrying a mobile phone, we will keep in contact with you from our central office.)

If we are picking up your loved one from an airport, we continually check the flight arrival details in order to calculate the exact arrival time. We can also pickup from a rail station, hotel, school or university, private residence, or anywhere else you designate.

We will meet your loved one at a pre-arranged location (such as the aiport’s Arrivals Hall or rail station’s meeting point) with their name clearly written on a name board.

We will then escort them to their taxi, helping with any luggage, and safely and efficiently deliver them to their destination.
