I get the distinct impression that the majority of people in England are absolutely fed up with politics and especially Gordon Brown and the Labour Government. As a Chancellor of the Exchequer he was almost bearable but as Prime Minster he is appalling. He just doesn’t seem right for the job and no one now believes a word he or his cronies say. We are supposed to be living in a democracy but politicians do whatever they like regardless of public opinion. There’s no need to list the multitude of unpopular decisions made by Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and the government. However, it is worth mentioning the war in Iraq. I didn’t meet one person who was in favour of this illegal war, except it must be said for a group of “gung ho” US marines who couldn’t wait to fight another war. Public opinion was hugely against the war and ordinary people demonstrated on the streets of London against it. The only other time I witnessed such a public outcry was against the Poll Tax imposed by Margaret Thatcher. The Poll Tax was reversed but the war in Iraq goes on. There is so much social injustice and poverty in this country. It is a criminal act of the highest order to be spending huge amounts of money on this illegal war.

A well thought out and educated piece of journalism, Mr. Coleman. You taxi drivers have more savvy than people realize!
A cool piece of observation.
You will have noted how many of Tony’s cronies – failures mostly – have now got top European positions at obscenely inflated salaries and perks as a reward for being useless.
Diatribe time…
Why is it that, having stolen £5billion a year from private pensions immediately after they came to power, nearly eleven years ago, and heaped some seventy extra stealth taxes on us, having increased the numbers of doctors, dentists, nurses, police (and most of all civil service, quangos and cronies) we have less police on the streets,a drastically worse Health Service, virually no NHS dentists (not free at the point of care) and a pension system that has made it vitually impossible to save in as means testing at retirement age will affect the amount you can receive.
